On August 26, 2009, which is the Chinese Valentine's Day, CCRCGP's giant panda Ying Ying gives birth to a cub at 3:34 am.  The new born cub is female with the weight of 158.5 g. Its father may be Mei Sheng who returned to China from USA in 2007.  Till now, there have been 11 fetuses 13 foals born in CCRCGP.

        The 18-year-old Ying Ying is from the wild.  It was born about in October, 1991.  Between 1998 and 2009, it has delivered 8 fetuses 13 foals.  It is a true hero mother.  Its eldest daughter You You has been the mother of the five cubs.  Now Ying Ying's family is developing and growing stronger, which brings new vigor to the giant panda population in captivity.  It is also the pride achievement of CCRCGP.

        At the end of this April, Ying Ying estrused and mated with Mei Sheng and Lu Lu naturally on May 8.  Therefore, who is the new born cub's father is not sure yet.  Mei Sheng was born on August 19, 2003 in San Diego Zoo of USA.  It is also the first male giant panda born abroad.  Its father is Gao Gao and mother is Bai Yun.  According to the Sino-US agreement, it returned to its hometown CCRCGP on November 7, 2007 to look for its bride.  This year, it oestrused for the first time and participate in mating.  Ying Ying is lucky enough to be its only bride of this year.
